I moved to Berlin in 2016, having fallen in love with the city but with little prospect of a long-term future without understanding German. I couldn't have anticipated how learning a language would become an absolute game-changer in opening up job opportunities and expanding the stories I could cover as a journalist. Having a foundation in German has been critical for maintaining my life in Germany, boosting my communication skills and giving me an entry key to the culture.
