Students from secondary schools in the North West are invited to design a unique three-course menu for a French or Spanish restaurant.
Participating schools can download a helpful competition pack which includes the basic structure of the menu to help you get started.
What you'll be doing
- Design a menu: Create a three-course menu (plus drinks) for a French or Spanish restaurant. Think about your flavour combinations, ingredients, and presentation.
- Use your language skills: Explain your choice of dishes and ingredients. Why did you choose them? What inspired you?
The Prize
Two winning schools (one French winner and one Spanish winner) will receive a fully immersive breakfast experience for 30 pupils at their school.
This 90-minute session, delivered by JLH Languages is a memorable opportunity to practice your language skills in a fun and interactive way. You'll learn about dining culture in France or Spain and get to practice ordering a meal in the target language
Competition Structure
- Title: Create a 3-course menu for a French or a Spanish restaurant! Encourage students to think about flavour, ingredients, presentation and justification of the dishes on the menu.
- Entry Requirements:
- Menu Design: Students submit a menu with 3 courses and drinks with details of ingredients and an explanation of why each was chosen.
- Explanation in French or Spanish: Include a short written description (in French or Spanish, if possible) of their menu and its inspiration.
- Evaluation Criteria:
- Creativity: Unique combination of dishes, ingredients, and presentation.
- Presentation: Clear explanation of why dishes and ingredients were chosen, fostering opinions and justifications.
